back to the gardens

it was a cool may morning...scratch that - it was a downright COLD may morning! we were dressed for winter on may 3. i know i'll be longing for this cooler weather in about a month or so, though, so i won't complain too much. especially since the rest of the weekend was absolutely perfect!

we went back to the gardens saturday morning - free for st. louis residents from 9am to noon (free is right up our alley and very much in our budget) - and, boy, was it a different place from the last time we were there! we couldn't get over all the color outside. so many tulips and aezalia's and other flowers whose names are not etched in my memory (could be the black thumb i carry with me everywhere). but i do appreciate seeing all of the variety! there is a new exhibit at the gardens right now, too - mosaic sculptures that were so much fun - many of them you could climb on and in and around and through. so much fun, even if it did feel like 10 below outside! i couldn't narrow it down so get comfy, grab your coffee/tea/wine/beer/water, and settle in for a little bit.....many pictures to follow:

this is the "chandelier" at the entry to the gardens. it's amazing and you can't tell from this picture but it is quite large.

the fountain when you walk out into the gardens

"the dancing graces"
tulips galore!! (my favorite!)
what person in his right mind wears shorts while everyone else is in winter jackets, scarves and hats? oh, that's right - my husband!
the aezalia's were gorgeous and so full! made me miss the south!
these are chihuly ornaments from the exhibit a year or so ago. the gate with the sun flares above is also chihuly, as well as the top picture at the entrance to the gardens.
where's waldo?
fun, fun!
